England is always so self-assured, not only "are we going to win this time" (every tournament since at least Euro 96), but of course Wills, Becks, and Dave will bring football home.

Of course now the bad bad BBC has spoilt the party. Who cares about corruption when we can waste lots of money we don't have on a pointless spectacle? We should never have had the Olympics either... But I go back to my grumpy corner now.Oliver Masonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15470911924018335990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2453649666507430394.post-75192185951576676412010-12-03T09:31:05.912+00:002010-12-03T09:31:05.912+00:00As a football lover having the World Cup here woul...As a football lover having the World Cup here would be great of course, a chance to watch some games maybe etc, but at what cost? The way the state works is that it facilitates private business by creating infrastructure which we pay for. It's brave to say that you feel happy about it too, and I wonder how many others are - secretly - feeling the same? I suspect a great many, and I certainly am, but for more mundane reasons: I simply couldn't have abided Cameron crowing about how he'd brought football home. As you say, back to the protests, something that really matters...BiluĊhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15194606495946091033noreply@blogger.com
